The African Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) focuses on promoting investments and policy support for driving agricultural productivity and income growth for African farmers in an environmentally sustainable way.
The Forum, which stems from the African Green Revolution Conference in Oslo, is a private-sector led initiative which will bring together African heads of state, ministers, farmers, private agribusiness firms, financial institutions, NGOs, civil society and scientists, to discuss and develop concrete investment plans for achieving the green revolution in Africa.
The Forum, which will be Chaired by Mr. Kofi A. Annan, will be hosted by H.E. John Atta Mills, President of Ghana and the Government of Ghana, from September 2-4, 2010 in Accra. It will be co-sponsored by the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), YARA and other invited partners, working closely with the African Union and regional economic communities.
In June 2007, Kofi Annan accepted the position as Chairman of the Board of the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) and at the 2008 African Green Revolution Conference, he and the CEO of Yara agreed that AGRA and Yara would join forces to make AGRF a forum led by and for Africans, and held in Africa. The 2010 conference will be hosted in Accra, Ghana, on this new partnership platform. The founding partners are now inviting other companies and organizations to join and help develop the Forum into a leading arena where all key stakeholders convene.
